Growing Up

Self Portrait w/ her new Fisher Price camera
I have begun to realize that in September my first born will head to Kindergarten. It might as well be college because I am already a nervous wreck. I know that Lillyana will do great. She is smart. Funny. Charming. Everything you could want in a daughter and a Miss America contestant. I think I worry most that we will really lose our time together. The sad thing is the time we spend apart won't be any different than it is now. Maybe I am worried about all of the new people that will be in her life. Her teachers. Her new friends - some that may be with her well into high school. Am I being a crazy mommy?

I am cherishing every moment. In 8.5 short months she will be walking through the school doors and I will be a sobbing mess. Until that day comes let me share some of the things that have come out of this special little girls mouth....

On travel: "Mommy, can I use your bra as a back-pack?"

On television: "There is no one cooler than Jimmy Fallon, Mommy. He knows Elmo."

On her messy room: "I don't want to clean it. It looks just like a yard sale."

On brushing her teeth:
Me: Lilly, want to use the new toothpaste I bought you?
Lilly: Sure mama. Did you get it on Craigslist?
Me: No. I bought it at Target.
Lilly: (Disappointed) Oh, ok. Target is fine.

At bedtime:
Me: Lilly stop talking and go to sleep.
Lilly: I'm trying but my nightgown won't cooperate.

I love this kid.
